Ergonomics and Anthropometry Part 1

1)The second set up was a lot better as it had many better features and the design was meant to let the user be comfortable with using the second set up.

2)We have to take the users' height, weight, distance between the monitor and the eye level and the space of the table into consideration.

3)Into order for a product to be successful, the user's comfort should be taken account as one of the major consideration. This will help to attract the customers and to make them happy and comfortable with your product.

The Ageing Challenge: Essential Questions

1)How to the elderly survive?(Money/food/housing)?
-We have to know how do the elderly live if they do not have their children supporting them. They may need special care. After learning what they need,we can then help them.

2)What  are the needs of an elderly(Transportations)?
-We have to find out how do they travel around Singapore or the neighborhood. They may not be able to travel around Singapore because of their transportation

3)What type of lifestyle do the elderly prefer?
-We have to know what type of lifestyle do the elderly prefer as we have to let them have a lifestyle thats suits them to fulfill their needs/

4)What do the public think or feel about the elderly?

Holiday work - Part 1: Understanding the ‘The Elderly Challenge’

1)Provide a variety of housing for the elderly to live in so as to fulfill their needs.
2)Public Buses should have priority seats specially for the elderly.
3)When the government have Budget surpluses, they can top up the elderly Medisave accounts so that they will have to money to see doctor and/or by medicine.
4)Organise activities and programmes for the elderly to take part in so that they can learn how to live a lifestyle they would want to have.

They recommended to vary the length of land leases as shorter land leases can develop retirement housing by the private sector.

1)The government can give some money to the elderly who are in need of cash.
2)The government can lessen the amount of money needed for the elderly to take transport, etc.

1)We can start by taking care of our grandparents first.
2)We can also help by making posters or booths in public places to help promote taking care of the elderly.
3)We can help any elderly we see in public places. For e.g. If we see an elderly crossing the road,we can help them cross the road.

Week 6+7: Basic Photography - Your fortnight 'assignment'

These are pictures that I took during my holidays...
This is a bridge connecting the resort to the man-made beach.
This is a "Garden Villa" in the resort.
This is the man-made beach that will appear only during low tides.

Week 7: Identifying Bad Designs

This bookshelf is badly design as the bottom is curved.Hence if you put too many book on one side, the book shelf may just topple over and make a mess or even injure someone.

Solution:We should just have an ordinary stable bookshelf where we could keep our books instead of risking just for the sake of having a nice looking bookshelf.
